Pine Street Inn speaker and Open Mic!

What a great Monday we just had with the Telem class!
First, Scottie Wait came to speak from Pine Street Inn. She is the Volunteer Programs Director and led a great talk about the importance of what our Telem class will be doing at both the shelter and housing site locations.

After Scottie's talk, we moved on to the OSTY open mic. Students played original and cover songs on guitar, piano, acappella, ukileli, bass, and drum.
We have a lot of talent here and it was a warm, family-like atmosphere.

10-4-10

This week’s class focused on the tension between Israeli security and the humanitarian crisis in The Gaza Strip. We read a couple articles and discussed various viewpoints on the situation. We then discussed the complicated nature of the current peace talks, connecting it’s importance with the state of affairs in Gaza.

Beginning Monday, October 25, we will be volunteering every other week at either the Pine Street Inn’s emergency women’s shelter or one of the Pine Street Inn’s housing sites. Our class will be running Monday programming (i.e. bingo night, ice cream sundae night) and building connections with the residents
